Welcome to Ngunnawal Primary School. As Principal of the school I am proud to share an overview of the school programs and philosophy with you.
Ngunnawal Primary School is an inclusive and supportive school that caters and differentiates for the needs of all students. The school opened in 1997 and in 2011 has an enrolment of approximately 570 students from preschool to year 6. The physical environment and layout of the school is modern, fresh, welcoming and friendly. Our senior students enjoy the opportunity to work in a contemporary virtual learning environment with new technologies.
The school has a focus on Core Learning with Literacy and Numeracy as main priorities. Ngunnawal Primary School prides itself on high expectations for all students within a supportive environment and enjoys the reward of excellent school
outcomes, celebrating all aspects of student achievement. Our school motto "What you give comes back to you" is the foundation of our school pastoral care and values program. The school culture fosters authentic, positive partnerships to provide the
best educational experience for every student.
Ngunnawal Primary School provides an inclusive environment where all students have opportunities to succeed and offers a diverse range of programs for students with a strong Information Communication Technology program, Music and Performing Arts programs for all students, Year 5 and 6 Band, school Rock Band and Junior and Senior Choirs. The school promotes healthy lifestyle through active participation in sporting teams and health promoting curriculum. Students are educated in environmental sustainability and actively participate in activities to reduce our carbon footprint. The school implements targeted programs that support Gifted and Talented students and caters for students who benefit from learning support.
Ngunnawal Preschool is located on site, and is accessible from the Primary School. In 2010 Ngunnawal Primary School was recognised for excellence in the Performing Arts and Indigenous Education through winning the Generation One 'Hands Across Australia' ACT award. Ngunnawal Primary School was recognised for its commitment to Indigenous Education through an article in the Dare to Lead publication in 2009 and a journal article in Education Horizons in 2010. The school also received an award in the Chief Minister's Reading Challenge, where the school achieved 100% participation in 2009. Ngunnawal Primary School is committed to providing quality education in a nurturing and dynamic environment.
