As principal I am proud to provide you with an overview of our school.
Ngunnawal Primary is located in Gungahlin in Canberra's north. The school has an enrolment of approximately 700 students in preschool to year 6. Ngunnawal Primary is an inclusive school that welcomes and celebrates the diversity of our local community. We have high expectations and work collaboratively to ensure that the needs of all students are met. The main priority for Ngunnawal Primary is Literacy and Numeracy learning.
We are very proud of the many and varied programs that we offer here at Ngunnawal Primary School. Our students participate in a diverse range of learning experiences such as Music and Performing Arts programs, Environmental Science, Instrumental Band Program for our year 5 and year 6 students, junior and senior choirs and all students in years 3 to 6 learn Indonesian. In addition to this the school actively promotes a healthy lifestyle by providing opportunities for our students to participate in sporting teams and by implementing a health promoting curriculum.
Ngunnawal Primary School is very proud of our Reconciliation efforts. Our school has been recognised for excellence in the Performing Arts and Indigenous Education through winning the Generation One 'Hands Across Australia' ACT award. Ngunnawal Primary was also recognised for its commitment to Indigenous Education in articles in the 2009 Dare to Lead and 2010 Education Horizons publications. During 2012 we launched the Ngunnawal Primary School Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and will continue to work towards achieving the stated goals over the next four years.
As a school we are passionate about children and learning and value a school culture where children learn, grow, laugh and play. We are a school that celebrates all learning and achievements.
